History: Labradoodles first came about in response to a very important need: assistance dogs for those with dog allergies. A Labrador Retriever was bred with a Standard Poodle, and the resulting offspring had the trainability and friendliness of a Lab, and the low-shedding, hypo-allergenic, and intelligence of a Poodle. The result? The Labradoodle!
Is a Labradoodle the Right Dog for Me? The Labradoodle is a very active and social dog, ideal for an active family with older children. Labradoodles are great with kids, but they are very active and could accidentally knock over a small toddler. Labradoodles need a lot of exercise and thrive off of walks, jogs, playing ball, hiking, swimming, and other active hobbies. If you are the kind of person that likes to be at home a lot, reading or watching TV, then this dog is not for you. If given the right amount of exercise and care, the Labradoodle is just about the perfect family pet.
Terminology:
F1 - (First generation; Labrador Retriever (Lab) plus a Standard Poodle)
F1B - (Second generation; F1 Labradoodle plus a Standard Poodle; 75% Poodle and 25% Lab)
Multigenerational Labradoodles - (Third generation; F1b bred to F1b or further generations bred to one another)
Australian Labradoodle: Australian Labradoodles can be called purebred Australian Labradoodles, Multigenerational Australian Labradoodles, or Australian Labradoodles. They all mean something a little different. Generally speaking, Australian Labradoodles have a third breed infused into the lineage in addition to the poodle and the Lab combination, mostly a Cocker Spaniel. Australian Labradoodles often originate from the Australian bloodlines whom began the breed.
Brasken's Puppies: Brasken Labradoodles currently sells F1B and multigenerational labradoodle puppies.
